Hello,
My name is Kurt Marlow.
Welcome to my site. 'If you dont now
me by now...' I will give you a brief update of 'Me,Myself and I'.
I was born in
1983 in Wolverhampton. I grew up in a town called Cannock, which is in the West Midlands/Staffordshire burough depending on
how posh you want to be. Cannock is a bit of a repeatative town, in the last 10 years the same folk have drank the same booze
in the same park, wearing the same England shirt, you get my drift! So there has never been anything much to do, apart from
if live in Chadsmoor, because if you do, you can do Smack. Because of the lack of 'stuff ' to
do, you have to find ' stuff ' to do.
From a young age I have always drawn and wanted to make things i:e Rollercoasters, Cool bases, tree houses and fire.
Through my schooling career I developed a habit of doodling on everything, from a motorbike in the front of a Dictionary
to Half of an English desk (much to my teachers disaproval!). Being into my Rock music from an early age, I would
usually draw the Aerosmith symbol (primary school) and later in life this progressed into the Sepultura symbol (high
school), which was also a transgression into Heavy Metal \m/ which i still take great inspiration from. Art was never
a major interest, it was more of a habit and a scape-goat. Taking the easy route, i chose to do Art as one of my GCSE
subject's. In lesson i would piss around to the annoyance of my teachers, untill one day a teacher took me under their
Arty wing and said " your going to Art college!". I knuckled down in Art lessons and ended up with an A* (which
i still gloat about!), this mark surpassed every other GCSE result as all i cared about was giong to college.
So I started college in Stafford and
met loads of new mates that like me were into skateboarding. College was sound, I did'nt do too well though as I
was to busy 'laying down the Hammers' with the boy's at the local skate park, but I did Enough to get me to University.
I went to University in the great
city of Birmingham, which was rad as all my mates and family lived not too far away ( which helps massively to ground you
to your roots, which is also an inspiration of mine). The course i studied was BA (hons) Fine Art. Once again I met loads
of wicked people that tought me alot in the space of 3 years. Art,drinking,Art,drinking, etc. Final mark 2:1, rad!
I found it really difficult
to find a job once I had left Uni, as people are scared to take you on because they know that you want to move on to better
things (apparantley?). For a few months I dossed around my mate's Spare room in his flat in Walsall, bleeding money from
the Dole as I Dossed! I eventually found a job with a company taught me the in's and out's of Graphic Design which
I adapted to quite well, if I don't say so myself!! Over the last 2 year's I have expressed a great inteest in tattooing
which includes getting heavily tattooed myself and also pursuing a career in the industry. In the last year I have created
a strong portfolio of tattoo flash sheets, spit painted designs and other material which is mainly tattoo inspired. This portfolio
helped me find an apprenticeship with Ben Rollz of Falling Leaves tattoo shop, Great Barr. I am currently in the process of
moving forward in the industry and will be soon tattooing full time at Falling Leaves.
Cheers for looking
at my stuff!!!
